March 1, 2016 - The view from my office when I'm out on the rig.I apologize for dropping off of the face of the earth there for a while; I haven’t been doing a very good job keeping this up. Once I started my rotation in October, my life has pretty much been a whirlwind. I haven’t been back at my apartment in Houston for longer than a week and a half at a time since I first went offshore in October.
September 13, 2015 - This weekend another fellow MechSE alum (who you may have/will see in ME 390 one day) came to Houston to visit. Hey Val!Hopefully everyone is surviving the first couple weeks of school!
August 3, 2015 - I survived my first week of work! After my first blog post, the rest of the summer went by pretty quickly. I wasn’t as adventurous as some of my classmates. I stayed U.S. bound for my final summer of freedom. After my move-in week in Houston, I headed north to Dallas for the rest of summer.
July 7, 2015 - I guess I had too much fun blogging about my study abroad experiences in Sweden, so I’m back. Except now, instead of “Follow Amanda’s Swedish Adventures!” it’s probably going to be more like “Watch Amanda Attempt to Figure Out Life After College!”
February 2, 2015 - MechSE alumnus Tim Deppen (BSME '09, MSME '09, PhDME '13) and current PhD student Nishana Ismail (MSME '13) have today launched a crowdfunding campaign for the invention, Shadow, which has been developed in the department. Their full release follows:
March 3, 2014 - Eric Bartsch, MSME '95If all goes as planned in 2016, Eric Bartsch will retrace American aviator Charles Lindbergh’s famous flight across the Bering Sea. His modern floatplane will run on biofuels.
February 23, 2014 - MechSE alumna Kira Barton (MSME '06, PhDME '10), now an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan, has been selected by the National Science Foundation as a CAREER Awardee, based on her research proposal "CAREER: Pushing the Boundaries: Advancing the Science of Micro-Additive Manufacturing."
September 15, 2013 - MechSE's Advancement staff and Administration welcomed the department's alumni board to a September 13, 2013 meeting at the Illini Center in Chicago.
