MechSE is bustling with activity today!  Our annual open house is today, the College of Engineering MERGE event kicks off today, and tonight is the annual scholarship/fellowship banquet!  What a day we have to look forward to!  Welcome to all the current students, prospective students, and parents!

We'll have the new grad lounge open for prospective graduate students, and we'll also have it stocked full of refreshments and snacks this afternoon.  All our grad students are invited to mingle with our visitors this afternoon.  The Grad Office will be bustling with prospective student appointments this afternoon, and tomorrow we'll be at the GEM Grad Lab at the I-Hotel.  I know some of our students this evening will be at our scholarship and fellowship banquet, and other students will be at the MERGE dinner at the ARC on campus.  So many great activities and opportunities to get involved!

Other news in MechSE:

News for current students:  Many MechSE seniors and graduate students are preparing applications for the NSF-GRFP competition.  Are you?  Remember that currently enrolled MechSE students can submit their essays to the grad department for extra feedback and a chance to win $500.  Remember, the deadline for this is on Monday, October 14th, 5:00pm.

News for prospective students:  We've already passed the deadline for Spring 2014 applications.  If you've applied, you can check the status of your application documents in My.MechSE.  Spring applications are typically evaluated by the committee in November.  When the committee has made a decision on your application, you will be notified via email.

For Fall applicants, remember that the priority deadline is December 15th.  If you haven't already done so, October and early November would be a good time to take the GRE.  You can register for the GRE at http://www.ets.org/.

I'll be posting more information for prospective students over the next few weeks - stay tuned!
