Professor Andrew Alleyne was named the 2020 recipient of ASME’s Robert Henry Thurston Lecture Award. He will present the related lecture, titled “A Systems Approach to Electrified Mobility,” on Wednesday, November 18.

Alleyne, the Ralph M. and Catherine V. Fisher Professor in MechSE, was honored by ASME for his innovative application of systems and controls tools to meet a broad array of societal needs including energy and power systems, manufacturing systems and transportation systems. He is the director of the NSF Center for Power Optimization for Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS).

The Robert Henry Thurston Lecture, established in 1925 in honor of ASME’s first president, provides an opportunity for a leader in pure or applied science or engineering to present a lecture on a subject of broad interest to engineers.
