ASEE honors Dankowicz for engineering education
Professor Harry Dankowicz was recently honored by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Mechanics Division with the 2017 Archie Higdon Distinguished Mechanics Educator Award, for his distinguished and outstanding contributions to engineering mechanics education.
He was recognized at an awards banquet June 27 in Columbus, Ohio.
His efforts at both the undergraduate and graduate levels encompass scholarship, curricular design, industrial engagement, and outreach.
Dankowicz, who is also a Cannon Faculty Scholar, was named in August as the Associate Dean for Graduate, Professional, and Online Education for the College of Engineering. In 2013, he won ASEE’s Fred Merryfield Design Award for his excellence in teaching engineering design.
Dankowicz received his PhD in theoretical and applied mechanics from Cornell University in 1995, after earning an M.S.C. in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He joined the MechSE faculty in 2005.
