Two of MechSE’s outstanding staff have been announced as the 2017 winners of the MechSE Staff Award for Exemplary Service.
Haruka Brown, Grants and Contracts Coordinator, and Stacy Walker, Office Support Associate in the Grad Programs office, were each nominated by several of their MechSE colleagues for the honor.
Nominations for Brown included praise for her dedication, professionalism, diligence, and attention to detail when it comes to coordinating and organizing grant applications for faculty. Walker’s nomination was based on the enthusiasm and initiative she displayed when she took on her recent role in Grad Programs, as well as her accommodating, sincere attitude and her energetic assistance with others.
They were honored at the MechSE Awards Banquet on April 7.
“I am so glad to be working every day with the Graduate Program’s unique, kind, talented, and hard-working staff—Taher, Katrina, and Kathy. Daily they dedicate themselves to the success of the department and our students,” Walker said. “I also appreciate working with MechSE faculty who are so driven. And it is an inspiration to help our amazing students who will lead our world tomorrow. I know how lucky I am, and am thankful to be a part of something so special.”
