Formula SAE Scores Top 10 Finish

The Formula SAE team in California.A formula-style racing car designed and built by student members of the Society of Automotive Engineers finished in the top ten during a recent competition in California. The University of Illinois Formula SAE team, headed by MechSE professor emeritus Norman Miller, had top four finishes in presentation, acceleration and autocross. Combined with scores in design, skid pad and endurance/economy, the team accumulated enough points to finish 8th.

A formula-style racing car designed and built by student members of the Society of Automotive Engineers finished in the top ten during a recent competition in California. The University of Illinois Formula SAE team, headed by MechSE professor emeritus Norman Miller, had top four finishes in presentation, acceleration and autocross. Combined with scores in design, skid pad and endurance/economy, the team accumulated enough points to finish 8th.

Fifty-nine cars completed the competition, which took place at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, June 13-16.
