MechSE professor Jonathan Freund was recently invited to serve on the editorial board of the Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics. His five-year appointment will begin this year as the board of nine—including academics from the U.S., the U.K., and France—prepares for the 2016 issue.

"It certainly helps broaden my perspective," said Freund, who also has an appointment in Aerospace Engineering. "The special thing about this particular journal is that it has a reputation for, in some sense, setting the direction of the field of fluid mechanics."

His invited review of "Numerical Simulation of Flowing Blood Cells" was published in the journal’s January 2014 issue.

Freund has previously served as a guest editor for Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics and as an associate editor for Physics and Fluids, among other appointments.
