MechSE alumnus Zach Kaplan (BSME ’01), CEO of Inventables, joins The Grainger College of Eningeering’s Illinois Innovators Podcast to discuss the Inventables’ unique technology, the business model, and his active role within the Chicago venture capital community.

Inventables is a 3D carving company started in 2002 that is helping ignite a revolution in digital fabrication. They are helping others start companies using their products, which include powerful machines, software, and materials. The company’s two flagship 3D carving machines are X-Carve and Carvey, and in their online store are a range of materials, from more than 30 hardwoods to over 100 types of acrylic.
