MechSE Student Receives MRS Award

Nagarajan Kalyanasundaram is among a select group of graduate students from around the world who received a Silver Award from the Materials Research Society at the organization's recent spring meeting. Through its graduate student awards program, the society honors and encourages students who have demonstrated outstanding academic and research achievement, and who show potential for significant future achievement. Kalyanasundaram is pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering under the guidance of MechSE professors Harley Johnson and Jonathan Freund.

Nagarajan Kalyanasundaram is among a select group of graduate students from around the world who received a Silver Award from the Materials Research Society at the organization's recent spring meeting. Through its graduate student awards program, the society honors and encourages students who have demonstrated outstanding academic and research achievement, and who show potential for significant future achievement. Kalyanasundaram is pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering under the guidance of MechSE professors Harley Johnson and Jonathan Freund. He was honored for his research on the atomistic origins of surface evolution and electronic structure modification due to ion bombardment. With more than 14,000 international members, the Materials Research Society works to advance interdisciplinary materials research to improve the quality of life.
