Salapaka, who completed his PhD in mechanical engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2002, was a postdoctoral associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research is in the area of nano-, micro- and mesotechnology, and addresses such phenomena as nanopositioning, atomic force microscopy, and filtering of noisy chaotic time series.
