At the 2nd International Conference on Uncertainty Quantification in Computational Sciences and Engineering (UNCECOMP 2017), Professor Martin Ostoja-Starzewski delivered a plenary lecture, “Tensor Random Fields in Mechanics,” as well as a keynote lecture, “Waves on Random Fields with Fractal and Hurst Effects.”

UNCECOMP is organized by the Institute of Structural Analysis an Antiseismic Research at the National Technical University of Athens. This year’s conference was held in Rhodes Island, Greece.

Ostoja-Starzewski’s research interests are primarily in thermomechanics of random and fractal media, advanced continuum theories, as well as aerospace, bio- and geo-physical applications. He is co-director of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Novel High Voltage/Temperature Materials and Structures.
