MechSE professors publish in high-impact journals, such as Science, Nature, and Applied Physics Letters while advancing fundamental knowledge in engineering and mechanics by contributing regularly to peer-reviewed journals in a wide range of areas that include nanotechnology, biomechanics and biotechnology, electrical and computer engineering, aerospace engineering, computational mechanics, dynamics and controls, thermo and heat transfer, solid and fluid mechanics, robotics, and more.
On average, 20 or more of the papers written by senior professors are cited more than 10 times. They as well as their students receive best paper awards from prestigious journals, conferences, and organizations in their fields. In recent years, students have won the Chittenden Award for best master’s thesis and graduate work, been finalists in the Annual Robert J. Melosh Medal Competition, and received Best Paper Awards from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Conference on Decision and Control.
