Ford Automotive Science & Technology Lab

The Ford Automotive Science & Technology (FAST) Lab was made possible through a gift from the Ford Motor Company in the year 2000. $1.25 million was provided for the remodeling of 5000 square feet of lab space. Additional funding has been provided for the purchase of equipment for both instruction and research. Equipment that has been purchased includes a high speed video camera, emissions test equipment, lasers, test engines, and dynamometers.

Laboratories in the FAST Lab include combustion, engine testing and diagnostics, fuel spray visualization and quantification, Formula SAE project space, micro-rapid prototyping research, and a chemical fume hood lab.

The FAST Lab is located in the north wing of the Mechanical Engineering Building.
