Amanda Goes to Work: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

December 21, 2017 - Hello my fellow MechSEs! It’s been a while since I’ve checked back in. I think last time I wrote a post, I was camping out on a drill ship in the Gulf of Mexico. I didn’t mean for a year and a half to fly by, but 2016/2017 turned out to be very eventful year in the life of Amanda. To sum it up quickly, in the past year I…
Amanda has some words of advice for her former classmates, soon-to-be MechSE alumni!

Congratulations, new MechSE alumni!

May 10, 2016 -   Gah, how can this be a year ago already?! Seniors, make sure you get in line early to get a picture with Alma. It’s the final stretch! My newsfeed tells me that the next round of MechSE seniors have officially survived senior design. On that note, CONGRATULATIONS! It’s hard to believe that I was giving my presentation a year ago already.
Amanda has been busy - enjoying rotations between the office and work sites, as well as some much-needed time off.

Life in rotation

March 1, 2016 -   The view from my office when I'm out on the rig.I apologize for dropping off of the face of the earth there for a while; I haven’t been doing a very good job keeping this up. Once I started my rotation in October, my life has pretty much been a whirlwind. I haven’t been back at my apartment in Houston for longer than a week and a half at a time since I first went offshore in October.
One of Amanda's newest revelations: day-to-day life goes way too fast now that she's working in the real world.

Keep on keepin' on

September 13, 2015 -   This weekend another fellow MechSE alum (who you may have/will see in ME 390 one day) came to Houston to visit. Hey Val!Hopefully everyone is surviving the first couple weeks of school!
Amanda has a busy summer before starting her first week of work at ExxonMobil.

I went to work and I survived

August 3, 2015 - I survived my first week of work! After my first blog post, the rest of the summer went by pretty quickly. I wasn’t as adventurous as some of my classmates. I stayed U.S. bound for my final summer of freedom. After my move-in week in Houston, I headed north to Dallas for the rest of summer.

Figuring out life after college

July 7, 2015 -  I guess I had too much fun blogging about my study abroad experiences in Sweden, so I’m back. Except now, instead of “Follow Amanda’s Swedish Adventures!” it’s probably going to be more like “Watch Amanda Attempt to Figure Out Life After College!”
