Mrs. Hermia G. Soo passed away on Friday, March 20. Mrs. Soo was the wife of Professor Shao-Lee (Charlie) Soo, a longtime member of the MechSE faculty from 1957 until his death in 1998.
Charlie and Hermia, and their entire family, are tremendous supporters of the department. Together they have endowed the Shao Lee Soo Professorship, the Hermia G. Soo Professorship, the Shao Lee Soo Fellowship, and the Hermia G. Soo Family Scholarship funds, which will forever keep the Soo name present in Mechanical Science and Engineering.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 8, 11:00 am at Wesley Methodist Church, 1203 W. Green Street, Urbana.
The family has asked that memorials be directed to the Hermia G. Soo Family Scholarship Fund, online.
