The ASHRAE team is designing an HVAC system for the residential renovation of the 20-story historic Dallas Power & Light Building. The project began in the fall, when a Senior Design team calculated peak cooling and heating loads for the building. This semester's focus is on using peak load data to specify the proper size and type of equipment to be installed, and finalizing a system design.

The Senior Design Formula SAE team is part of a larger team of students who have been conceptualizing, designing, fabricating and testing this year's entry in multi-university Formula SAE competition in May.

Coming off a first-place finish in 2005, this year's Parker-Hannifin Chainless Challenge design team has set a goal of retaining the title while improving upon last year's design. The competition has student teams from a variety of universities design bicycles that use hydraulics rather than chains to produce forward motion.

The students were able to showcase their knowledge of engineering concepts in response to challenging questions from the Alumni Board members, who also offered helpful suggestions and praise for the students' efforts.
