Missy Biehl, an undergraduate programs coordinator in MechSE, has won the 2017 “Golden Shamrock” award from the College of Engineering’s Knights of St. Patrick society.

The Golden Shamrock award is given to a staff member that supports the students of the College of Engineering, using the same criterion as used to define a Knight. The Golden Shamrock recipient should be an individual who has demonstrated leadership and service, contributed to the enhancement of student activities, and maintained a high level of character. Additionally, the Golden Shamrock recipient may be an individual who has acted as a mentor to one or more of the Knights-elect.

MechSE had three students honored as 2017 Knights: Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi, Liz Livingston, and Karla Rivero Valles.

“I am delighted, but not surprised, to see that Missy Biehl won the Golden Shamrock,” said Dr. Emad Jassim, MechSE’s Director of Undergraduate Programs. “Missy knows our students well and helps make the department feel like home away from home. I often find students stopping by to share good news with her, or coming to discuss problems.

“She is always looking to improve herself and take on new challenges. This year she stepped up as the MechSE Chair of the Engineering Open House committee and did an outstanding job. We are very proud of Missy and her accomplishments.”
