Deba Dutta named Director of Lifelong Learning Imperative

He will lead a nine-member steering committee that will assess the practices for educating engineering professionals and outline strategies for engaging universities and professional societies.

Dean of the Graduate College and MechSE Professor Deba Dutta
Dean of the Graduate College and MechSE Professor Deba Dutta was recently named director of the Lifelong Learning Imperative. He will lead a nine-member steering committee that will assess the practices for educating engineering professionals and outline strategies for engaging universities and professional societies. The study will also survey engineering professionals and other stakeholders to help develop new strategies. The findings of the initiative will be reported at a fall workshop in Washington, D.C. and provide information to help keep the nation’s technical workforce at the cutting edge.

The project was initiated by the National Academy of Engineering with support from the National Science Foundation to address the necessity of lifelong learning, the history of continuing education, and the changes made in teaching because of the rapid rate of change in technological.
