Professor Richard DeVor
Professor Richard DeVor has received the 2007 Honorary Member Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.The College of Engineering Distinguished Professor of Manufacturing, Professor DeVor was honored for distinguished leadership in and longstanding contributions to the field of manufacturing engineering education and research through technical publications, graduate student mentoring, and the development of programs and activities to promote industry, university and government interaction and technology transfer.

A member of the National Academy of Engineering, he is an international authority in the areas of mathematical modeling of machining systems and quality engineering. His recent research has focused on micro/mesoscale manufacturing, with particular emphasis on the fundamental mechanics of machining at the micro/mesoscale and on the miniaturization of machine tools. Professor DeVor joined the department in 1971 after completing his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
