Check out the final competition of students who built launchers with the goal of landing a tennis ball in a pipe opening. When shots were made, the professors got drenched. This is from ME 370 in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at Illinois. The brave faculty members were Sam Tawfick, Gavin Horn, and Elizabeth Hsiao-Wecksler (and son).

To build these ball launchers, the students utilized MechSE's Design Studio. They used advanced computer-aided manufacturing techniques like laser cutting and 3D printing to make them, as well as advanced simulation and numerical computation tools to design them and analyze their performance.
