Six faculty members have received named professorships in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engieering and the College of Engineering. Endowed professorships are given to individuals who are leaders in their field and who have an outstanding record of professional accomplishment.

The six honorees are: Placid M. Ferreira, the fourth Grayce Wicall Gauthier Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Yonggang Y. Huang, the fifth Grayce Wicall Gauthier Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Charles L. Tucker III, the first Alexander Rankin Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Jonathan A. Dantzig, the third W. Grafton and Lillian B. Wilkins Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; Brian G. Thomas, the fourth W. Grafton and Lillian B. Wilkins Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering; J. Craig Dutton, a Donald Biggar Willett Professor.
