Four MechSE staff members will receive the MechSE Staff Award for Exemplary Service for 2020. These individuals are being recognized for their contributions to the department and for outstanding service to faculty, students, co-workers, and others.

Kyle Cheek is the Research Laboratory Shop Supervisor in MechSE’s Machine Shop.

“There is no denying that the demeanor and approach that Kyle brings to the job each day enhances the image of our department!" said Damon McFall, the Director of Facilities and Operations in MechSE. "His reputation extends across the college and campus for his wealth of experience, his openness to new ideas and creative solutions, and his willingness to truly offer help to colleagues and our students, staff, and faculty.”

Joe Maduzia is the Laboratory Specialist in MechSE’s MNMS Cleanroom.

“Not only does Joe bring a positive attitude and a big smile to work every day, but he also does a tremendous job keeping the MNMS labs running smoothly,” said Glennys Mensing, MNMS Laboratory Coordinator. "He is so helpful to the students, faculty, and staff that use the cleanroom, and anyone else who knocks on his door. His contributions to the research and teaching that go on in the MNMS labs are truly appreciated."

Marcia Mathis is the Business and Finance Coordinator in MechSE’s Business Office.

“In my short tenure at MechSE, Marcia has proven to be a highly dedicated and knowledgeable business professional,” said Rebecca Seymour, MechSE’s Assistant Head for Administration. “She consistently goes the extra mile to help support MechSE teaching and research endeavors in one of the highest volume purchasing/business departments in the College of Engineering.”

Julia (Stackler) Park is the Assistant Director of Communications for MechSE.

“Needless to say, Julia plays an enormous role in all aspects of MechSE’s communications and is a true professional,” said Bill Bowman, MechSE’s Director of Communications. “What some people might not know is the huge role she plays in award nominations for the department and our faculty members—resulting in an incredible amount of awards won for MechSE.”
