MechSE Profs Win 2006 ASME Awards

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has honored four MechSE faculty for their achievements in research and teaching. Professor Emeritus A. L. "Tad" Addy has been named an Honorary Member in recognition of "a lifetime of internationally distinguished research in fluid dynamics and national advocacy of quality and innovation in engineering education; and for more than two decades of superb leadership of a nationally recognized academic department."

Professor Emeritus A. L. "Tad" Addy has been named an Honorary Member in recognition of "a lifetime of internationally distinguished research in fluid dynamics and national advocacy of quality and innovation in engineering education; and for more than two decades of superb leadership of a nationally recognized academic department."

Professor Narayana Aluru has received the Pi Tau Sigma Gustus L. Larson Award for outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering within ten to twenty years of completing his baccalaureate degree.

Professor Richard Buckius has received the James Harry Potter Gold Medal in recognition of "outstanding and innovative contributions in the areas of thermodynamics education through the authoring of textbooks and highly effective teaching; and in research through scholarship in the fields of thermodynamics of heat transfer, energy and combustion systems."

Professor Nicholas Fang has received the Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering within ten years of completing his baccalaureate degree.
