Faculty, staff and friends toasted Charles Tucker, Alexander Rankin Professor, during a MechSE luncheon held Wednesday, August 29, to recognize Tucker’s four years of service as Associate Head for Undergraduate Programs.

During his four-year term, Professor Tucker shepherded the program through a merger of two departments and rapid enrollment growth. In fall 2006, 137 more undergraduate students were enrolled than in 2003.

Tucker is succeeded by Professor James Phillips, who became Associate Head for Undergraduate programs this semester. Professor Petros Sofronis is now the Associate Head for Mechanics Programs.
