Raman receives For Women in Science Fellowship
MechSE alumna Ritu Raman (MSME ’13, PhDME ’16) has been named one of only five recipients of the 2017 For Women in Science Fellowship, which honors female scientists at a crtical stage in their careers with $60,000 grants to advance their postdoctoral research.
Raman was a highly decorated graduate student in the MechSE Department until she received her PhD in December 2016. She also conveyed her numerous adventures in higher education through her blog “Ritu’s Mechanics of Motion” on the MechSE website.
Currently at MIT, Raman’s research focuses on the design of new smart materials that dynamically respond and adapt to their environment.
