Tucker named first-ever Fellow of Polymer Processing Society

MechSE’s Charles Tucker III has been elected Fellow of the Polymer Processing Society (PPS) in recognition of his active involvement in the society and for his foundational contributions to developments in polymer processing, especially in the areas of modeling in materials processing and prediction of fiber orientation in polymer composites.

PPS is the premiere international scientific society in this field. This year introduces the first-ever class of PPS Fellows, with just three new fellows selected each year: one each from the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. 

Tucker, Research Professor and Alexander D. Rankin Professor Emeritus, has been a member of PPS since its inception in 1985. During the first two decades of the society’s existence, he attended and contributed papers to 18 of the first 20 annual meetings. He served on the editorial board of International Polymer Processing from 1997 to 2017, and was a member of the PPS Executive Committee, as the International Representative for North America, from 1993 to 1994. He also organized symposia for at least nine society meetings on a wide range of topics.

Tucker will be recognized at the next International Meeting of the Society in Montreal, May 31-June 4 2020.
